WGNO employees share memories of the station’s legendary sports director, Ed Daniels

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — After more than 30 years here at WGNO, everybody, in every department, knew Ed Daniels.

So, a few of his coworkers decided to share some of their memories of the legendary WGNO sports director, who passed away on Aug. 16 after suffering a heart attack.

“You can hear him in the hallways. Always loud. Always boisterous. And it’s impossible not to feel that his presence is no longer here,” said WGNO General Manager John Cruse.

“I can’t imagine the New Orleans media scene without the likes of Ed Daniels, period,” said GMNO Anchor LBJ.

Daniels remains missed by the entire crew at WGNO, but we take solace in the memories—and legacy—he left behind.
