NEED TO KNOW

What to know about Matt Gaetz's House Ethics report

In a meeting today, the House Ethics Committee is expected to discuss its investigation into alleged misconduct by former Rep. Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general.

What to know: The committee spoke with several witnesses and reviewed thousands of pages of documents related to alleged sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, obstructing government investigations and more. Here are some of those records. [GMA/ABC News]

The report: It’s unclear whether the committee will vote to release the report. Its top Democrat, Rep. Susan Wild, has called for its release, while House Speaker Mike Johnson said he’d “strongly request” the panel not make it public. [NBC News]

Confirmation push: Gaetz, who has denied all wrongdoing, and Trump have personally been lobbying lawmakers as some Senate Republicans have called for the report to be released ahead of Gaetz’s confirmation hearing next year. [CNN/Reuters]

3 QUESTIONS

...about Thanksgiving cooking

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving, Anthony asked food blogger Maike Corbett for some recipe ideas and tips to make your home-cooked meal stand out.

Anthony: What’s your no. 1 tip for cooking a juicy, well-seasoned turkey?

Maike: I have a few tips in this recipe, but my favorite is to rub an herb butter paste under the skin and add chicken broth and vegetables in the cavity. I cook my turkey at 325oF, baste it and turn the pan several times while cooking.

Anthony: What are some quick side dishes I can whip up in little time?

Maike: We love traditional and easy side dishes. You can’t go wrong with this green bean casserole or sweet potato casserole. And I always have to make extra bacon stuffing rolls because my family always wants to take some home!

Anthony: What’s your recommendation for a delicious but low-effort dessert?

Maike: Here’s a take on a classic pumpkin pie that comes together in about 10 minutes. This Crockpot apple dump cake is also a family favorite and won’t take up oven space. I love serving it with rich vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of salted caramel sauce.

Not a fan of turkey? Here are some other mains you can cook. Follow Maike’s blog for more.
