'Bridgerton', 'MasterChef', 'Dancing On Ice': What to watch on TV this week, 21 - 27 March

It's the week Bridgerton fans have been waiting for - the hit period drama returns to Netflix this Friday for season two, following Anthony's search for a wife.

Elsewhere, it's a good week for foodies as the new series of MasterChef launches on BBC One on Wednesday with a shake-up of the challenges, and Celebrity Bake Off begins on Tuesday on Channel 4.

There are also some big reality TV finals coming up this week, with Lord Sugar hiring his new Apprentice on BBC One on Thursday and the Dancing On Ice winner crowned on ITV on Sunday.

Monday

Then Barbara Met Alan - BBC Two - 9pm

This film tells the true story of the 90s disability rights campaigners who fought hard for victories that would make a real difference to their lives, such as anti-discrimination bills and access, rather than settling for the patronising charity they were being offered.

It's told through the love story of campaigners Barbara Lisicki, played by Ruth Madeley, and Alan Holdsworth, played by Arthur Hughes.

Holding - ITV - 9pm

The Kathy Burke and Dominic Treadwell-Collins adaptation of Graham Norton's debut novel continues, as a key suspect goes missing.

PJ makes a risky decision in his investigation that leads to a huge breakthrough. Starring Conleth Hill and Siobhan Sweeney.

Tuesday

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer - Channel 4 - 8pm

One of reality TV's best celebrity spin-off shows returns as the Bake Off tent welcomes some famous contestants in the name of charity.

Up first are Emma Willis, Clara Amfo, Alex Horne and Blake Harrison, judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

British Grandma on Death Row with Susanna Reid - ITV - 9pm

Linda Carty is the only British woman on death row anywhere in the western world, and she's been there for 20 years awaiting execution.

She tells Susanna Reid the story of how she was convicted for the murder of a young mum whose newborn baby she was said to be planning to steal - although cracks in the case begin to emerge.

Wednesday

MasterChef - BBC One - 8pm

A new series of TV's favourite cooking contest launches tonight, where loyal fans will notice a few changes in the early rounds.

Cooks will have to bring along their own ingredients to make a signature dish that John Torode and Gregg Wallace will not watch them make, but they'll then head back into the kitchen to observe any contestants who didn't make it through the first taste test.

Thursday

The Apprentice Final - BBC One - 9pm

Lord Sugar has narrowed down the candidates to just Harpreet Kaur and Kathryn Louise Burn, and tonight he'll choose his next business partner.

First, the finalists have to make their way through one final challenge where they'll have to launch their own business plan, with a little help from some of the previously fired candidates.

Hospital: Road to Recovery - BBC Two - 9pm

In a bleak look at the pressures currently facing the NHS, the documentary visits the Royal Free London two years on from the beginning of the pandemic.

Staff show the enormous backlog of patients they are facing, both in A&E and for scheduled treatments and operations.

Friday

Bridgerton - Netflix

The week's big TV launch is the hotly-anticipated second series of Bridgerton - although sadly, the Duke is not back.

Daphne's brother Anthony is on the hunt for a bride, but as he becomes embroiled in a love triangle with sisters, things are set to get messy.

Of course, Lady Whistledown is back too, but the Queen is out to put a stop to her gossip.

Saturday

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway - ITV - 7pm

The lads were off TV for a week last weekend as they were bumped from the schedules by the Six Nations, but tonight they make a triumphant return for more pranks and prizes.

Ant and Dec will be joined by Line Of Duty and Motherland star Anna Maxwell Martin as the celebrity guest announcer.

Sunday

Dancing On Ice Final - ITV - 7pm

It's a week later than planned thanks to last Sunday's football, but Brendan Cole, Kimberly Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne finally take to the rink for one last time tonight.

They've had an extra week to prepare so we're expecting something particularly spectacular from the most accomplished group of finalists ever.

Peaky Blinders - BBC One - 9pm

Tommy is struggling to get to grips with last week's revelation that he is facing an illness he is expected to die from, in the wake of burying his young daughter.

Meanwhile, he's also trying to continue the Shelby family's many complex business interests, including one deal that could change everything for them.
