GREEN BAY ? A new restaurant offering Japanese food has been in the works on the west side. But it's unknown when it will open.

Koi Ramen took over the former Arby's at 1593 W. Mason St., in Green Bay. The company operating this restaurant, Green Bay Koi Inc., is registered to Yongzhan Wu. He applied for liquor licenses for wine and beer on April 23, which were approved Monday. Wu did not immediately respond to requests for comment by the Press-Gazette.

As of May 14, the restaurant had its windows covered and a letter from the previous business announcing the closure was still on one of the doors.

The property was purchased for $925,000 in July 2022 by Milwaukee Development LLC, a company owned by Chad Hurst, a real estate agent from Pennsylvania.

Hurst said in a phone call that his company owns properties all over the country and the lease was handled by a broker.

Public records show the broker is Aaron Acker, from Galvanize Law, a firm in Colorado, and the lease was signed on Aug. 1 for a duration of 10 years.

Leah Weycker, director for Military Avenue business district, said the restaurant is part of her district but she hasn't met the owner yet.

"Nobody has approached us," she said. "I'm waiting for them to open to go and meet them."
