Where is London, Kentucky? City with active shooter situation in Laurel County
An active shooter situation broke out Saturday, leading to the shutdown of Interstate 75.
The situation is happening in Laurel County, Kentucky, near London.
As of around 7 p.m., the shooter was not in police custody, Kentucky State Police spokesperson Scottie Pennington posted on Facebook.
The interstate shutdown is near Exit 49 and U.S. Route 25, about nine miles north of London, according to officials. The interstate reopened both north and southbound around 9:30 p.m.
While there are an estimated four to six victims as of 7:40 p.m., the mayor of London said on Kentucky Sports Radio the shooting does not appear to be random and that some victims were injured as a result of a car crash, not being shot.
Police are still searching for 32-year-old person of interest, Joseph A. Couch.
