When and where Milwaukee's Bublr Bikes stations will be closed during the 2024 RNC

Bublr Bikes, a bikeshare system in Milwaukee, will shut down seven of its stations starting Thursday for the Republican National Convention.

The closed stations are all inside the convention security’s “hard zone,” meaning the area will be controlled by the Secret Service and credentials are required for entrance.

With more than 100 stations in Milwaukee and surrounding communities, Bublr Bikes offers regular and electric bikes that people can check out around the city.

Though the RNC was promised to deliver a boom to downtown businesses, Bublr Bikes is among several city programs and businesses pausing services through the convention. Here's a rundown of what else is closed during the RNC.

How long will Bublr Bikes stations be shut down?

The affected stations will be closed starting Thursday and reopening next Friday, July 19, after the RNC, according to an email from Bublr Bikes.

The closure window starts a few days earlier and ends a few days later than the actual convention, which will run from July 15 to 18. According to Bublr Bikes operations manager Emmy Yates, the company is allowing for a few buffer days because customers are already have issues accessing bikes with fencing and street closures going up for the convention.

"We're doing it preemptively, so people don't get stuck in traffic with the bikes," Yates said.
