Where polls showed Mark Robinson in NC governor's race before Thursday's allegations
Republican gubernatorial candidate in North Carolina Mark Robinson was taking heat Thursday after a report from CNN detailed comments he allegedly left on a pornographic site.
The Robinson campaign denied that the postings were from the lieutenant governor in a Facebook video and statement to USA TODAY that blamed the story on is opponent Democratic opponent, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein.
Robinson has vowed he will not drop out of the race.
Polls in recent weeks have shown Robinson trailing Stein, sometimes by double-digits.
As allegations surface against Robinson, here is a look at the current polling for North Carolina Governor.
Polls consistently show Stein leading Robinson
In the last two weeks, polls have shown a clear lead for Stein.
A poll released on Sept. 7 by Survey USA and sponsored by WRAL-TV in Raleigh had Stein up by 14 percentage points.
Two polls released the next day, one by Quinnipiac University and Morning Consult showed Stein up by 12 and 13 points,. respectively.
Polls released on Wednesday showed a tighter race, with Victory Insights giving Stein a 5-point edge and Emerson College showing the Democrat had an 8-point lead.
