Where to find sandbags in, near Baton Rouge before Hurricane Francine hits Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected this week in the Baton Rouge area. Hurricane Francine is currently in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday.

Parishes are helping residents get ready for the storm by opening sandbag locations. We will update this article with further information about sandbag locations as they become available.

Ascension Parish

East Bank Locations:

  • Paula Park, 16457 Paula Park Road, Prairieville.

  • Prairieville Primary School, 40228 Parker Road.

  • Raymond Tullier, Hwy. 70, Sorrento.

  • Ridge Road and Kleinpeter Road (off Bluff Road).

  • Buxton Road(at the tee turnaround).

West Bank Locations:

  • St. Jude Subdivision on St. Jude Drive, Donaldsonville.

Residents can bring shoves starting at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9.

Assumption Parish

Local leaders said bags will be limited to 10 per vehicle at the LSU Agriculture Center, and residents must bring their own shovels to the Veteran’s Park location.

East Baton Rouge Parish

Pre-filled sandbags are available at the City of Gonzales Maintenance Building, 2919 S. Darla Ave. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Residents will need to provide proof of residency.

Residents will need to bring their shovels in order to fill the sandbags.
