Hayley Spencer

It’s not just the public who are Copy Kates - a host of celebrities have been spotted sporting the same outfits as the Duchess over the years.

Whether it’s her mum or Kim Kardashian, she’s no stranger to a style snap.

But how often has the Duchess been beaten to the best dressed crown by her style twins? Let’s decide with our who wore it best Duchess edition..

Kate Middleton looked breathtaking when she wore this ornate, sequin adorned, blush-hued gown by Jenny Packham to a dinner at Kensington in 2011, but it looked mighty familiar, didn’t it?

Fans of Gossip Girl will remember that Leighton Meester wore the same tulle sleeved gown on the set of Gossip Girl in the scene that saw her get engaged to her French Prince.

The Verdict: This one’s a stalemate: both ladies look every inch the Princess.

Jenny Packham may be the Duchess’s go-to designer, but it’s also Angelina Jolie’s. And it’s no wonder when she looks this sizzling in the label’s pieces.

This asymmetric gown was Kate’s choice for a the National Memorial Arboretum Appeal charity event in 2011 at St James’s Palace, while Angelina wore it six months earlier for a premiere of The Tree of Life in L.A.

The verdict: Both ladies have gone for similarly understated styling, but Jolie’s bolder choice of shade edges her to the win, in our opinion.

Kate Middleton liked this red, peplum-waist Alexander McQueen dress with pleated skirt so much she wore it for two major events - first in June 2012 and again in February 2014.

But Kim Kardashian was one step ahead. She wore a sleeveless version of the design in 2011, matching it with killer snakeskin keels and a statement choker.

The Verdict: Kate’s chic, simple styling triumphs this time.

And Kim K wasn’t the first to rock the red McQueen mini - Tulisa Contostavlos rocked it with a fishtail plait, Nicholas Kirkwood heels and matching crimson lips during the auditions for The X Factor when she was a judge on the show in 2011.

The verdict: Again, Kate’s understated approach let’s the dress do the talking so she takes the McQueen crown.

Just like fellow Brit Emma Watson is a big Burberry fan - she wore a peplum version of the brand’s signature trench in Northern Ireland in March 2011, four months after Watson wore a studded edition in New York.

The verdict: Both ladies rocked a chic twist on a classic but we prefer Watson’s more adventurous choice of design.

Kate Middleton inspired a sell-out after she was spotted wearing this LK Bennett floral Lasa print poppy shift dress on tour in Australia, but lucky Mindy Kaling already had her hands on it. She wore it as part of a scene for her show The Mindy Project which aired the same week as the Duchess’ trip.

The verdict: The waist detail on this dress means it’s a figure flatterer for both women, but the win goes to Kate for her choice of elegant accessories.
