Why are there more low planes near my house? Airport construction could be the reason

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — If you live near the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, you might hear more low planes near your house soon.

Flight patterns will be changing due to ongoing renovations, which will close runways during certain periods over the next few months.

Starting on July 8, runway 5-23 will close nightly Monday to Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. That will run until July 31. It will completely close on Aug. 1 and will remain closed until Oct. 1.

The overnight closures will begin again on Oct. 1 and last through Nov. 1.

During the times that the runway is closed, runway 14-32 will be the only one available for arrivals and departures.
