According to court affidavits filed in the case, an off-duty Wichita Falls Police officer was leaving the Cinemark theaters in Parker Square about 8 p.m. Aug. 6 when he heard a disturbance.

A man told the officer he had just shot Holloman in self-defense. Holloman had a gunshot wound to the ankle and was transported to a hospital.

Investigators heard from Holloman's wife and her boyfriend — the accused shooter — that Holloman had driven erratically as he followed the couple from a restaurant to the theaters and then confronted the boyfriend, who had a gun, according to allegations in affidavits. Holloman told police the gun had discharged during a struggle that ensued.

He also said his two children, ages 3 and under 1, had been in his pickup during the drive from the restaurant and the confrontation.

Police allege Holloman's actions caused “imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment” to the children.

The offenses are state jail felonies. If convicted, Holloman faces up to two years behind bars.

A police spokesman said because the shooting was possibly self-defense, the case would be submitted to a grand jury to determine if a charge will be brought.

The man who told police he shot Holloman has not been charged.
