Wichitan starts food truck ministry after overcoming homelessness

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Adam Record started a food truck ministry to feed the homeless.

“Right now, we go out into the community, and we cook hot meals for people that are homeless and hand out bibles and backpacks full of necessities,” Record said.

Nine years ago, he was homeless.

“I’ve lived this life, and I know how hard it is,” Record said. “There’s a lot of good people on the streets, and some people want to be out there, but a lot of people generally want help, and I want to bridge that gap and show the love of the Lord and show what is possible through Jesus Christ.”

His life took a turn when he was in a McDonald’s to get out of the cold.

“A man walked in and started telling me about Jesus and that Jesus loves me,” Record said. “That night, I accepted Christ. The next day, I made it into rehab. That was nine years ago, and I’ve been sober, living for the lord ever since.”

His life changed over a meal, so he is trying to pay that forward.

“I feel like that meal, along with what he told me about Jesus, saved my life, and that’s why feeding the homeless in the community is so important to me,” Record said. “One meal could change your life, it certainly changed my life.”

Record says when he was homeless, he never thought he’d be where he is today.

“That one person I might reach, there’s no telling what they could do,” Record said. “They could change the world. There’s no telling. What he did for me, he can do that with any person. If I can save one person, give one person eternal salvation through Christ and share that message with them. To me, that’s everything. All it takes is one person.”
