Winn-Dixie in Prairieville to close in September, reopens as ALDI grocery store
PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — Another ALDI grocery store is coming to Louisiana.
According to an ALDI spokesperson, the Winn-Dixie, which is located at 17682 Airline Highway in Prairieville, will be converted into an ALDI store.
The Winn-Dixie will be closed in late September, to allow for renovations to accommodate the ALDI format. The store will reopen to the community several months later.
The supermarket chain plans to convert other Winn-Dixie locations into ALDI stores over time.
“We’re converting some Winn-Dixie stores to the ALDI format to better support the communities we serve,” said the ALDI spokesperson. “Customers can expect a quick, easy shopping experience with great products at the lowest possible prices. Our smaller stores are stocked with only the items customers need so they can get in and out, and our award-winning exclusive brands help shoppers save up to 40% on their groceries without sacrificing quality.”
According to the ALDI website, the opening of this ALDI location would increase Louisiana’s total to 16 stores.

Winn-Dixie employees of that location have the chance to apply first to work under the ALDI franchise or have the option to transfer to another Winn-Dixie location.
