Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office alerting residents of potential fraudulent rental scams

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – In a Tuesday morning Facebook post, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said there have been multiple fraudulent actions through Facebook Marketplace advertisements.

According to the post, the advertisements were targeted towards people looking for rental properties in the area.

“Please remember, never send funds via electric payment to individuals you do not know or who you have not vetted as legitimate landlords of a property,” the post says.
