Wisconsin experts will lead discussion at Ripon College on women's and reproductive health

FOND DU LAC — Women's and reproductive health will be the focus of a free public discussion this Women's History Month.

Retired obstetrician-gynecologist Dorothy Skye and UW Collaborative for Reproductive Equity Director Jenny Higgins will lead a panel discussion called "The State of Women’s Health in Wisconsin" at 6:30 p.m. March 21 in the Great Hall of Harwood Memorial Union at Ripon College.

Discussion topics include reproductive health, chronic health conditions, depression and postpartum maternal health, infant mortality and minority women facing mortality disparities, with opportunities for questions from the audience.

In addition to a 30-year career practicing in obstetrics and gynecology in California and Wisconsin, Skye is also president of the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin. Previously, she was president of the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods.

Higgins is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In her leadership of the UW Collaborative for Reproductive Equity, the research initiative focuses on reproductive health care access and delivery, policy evaluation and communication to address critical needs in reproductive health and healthcare in Wisconsin. It focuses on providing access to policy-relevant information on contraception and abortion access in Wisconsin and beyond.
