MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in southern Wisconsin say that a man was arrested for OWI after his car ended up in a river.

According to the Madison Police Department, on October 13, around 7 a.m., officers responded to a report of a car in the Yahara River. The Madison Fire Department was also at the scene and was able to check the vehicle and found no one inside.

Authorities say officers re-contacted a 22-year-old man from Sun Prairie who was helped home earlier in the night. He was eventually arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and given two more citations, according to the release.
