Wisconsin man leads deputies on 110mph pursuit on I-43 before crashing into median
(WFRV) – A Wisconsin man was arrested on Sunday after fleeing a traffic stop and leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 43.
According to a release, deputies with the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an Illinois registration for unlawful side window tint and no front license plate.
The driver, identified as Jerry Hamilton from Milwaukee, pulled over and provided the deputies with his Illinois driver’s license. While the deputies were interacting with Hamilton, they observed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Deputies reportedly ordered Hamilton to exit the vehicle so they could investigate, but he shifted the vehicle into drive and fled the scene of the stop.
As Hamilton fled, his vehicle hit the arm of one of the deputies, causing a minor injury. The deputy returned to his squad car, and a pursuit ensued.
Authorities followed Hamilton south on Interstate 43 into Rock County. During the pursuit, Hamilton consistently traveled at around 110 miles per hour. In Rock County, a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper attempted to deploy spike strips to deflate Hamilton’s tires.

Hamilton was quickly taken into custody at the scene of the crash, and first aid was rendered. The vehicle was traveling at around 110 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
