SPRINGVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin man is expected to face charges after willingly driving a motorcycle without a license and crashing into a deer, which killed his passenger.

Deputies say that it was reported that the driver and passenger from the motorcycle were both on the ground, and one person was unresponsive.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found both subjects on the ground with severe head trauma along with other injuries. It was noted that the two were not wearing protective headgear.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling east on State Highway 82 when a deer entered the roadway from the south ditch.

The operator of the motorcycle, later identified as 51-year-old Tyler M. Konrad of Burlington, appeared to have attempted to brake based on the evidence at the scene. However, the deer and motorcycle collided, causing Konrad and his passenger, 45-year-old Heather L. Grenus of Burlington, to be ejected.

Authorities arriving on the scene immediately rendered aid to both Konrad and Grenus. Medical helicopters responded for both individuals, and they were both airlifted to nearby trauma centers.

On Sunday, July 7, shortly after 6:45 a.m., the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office told the Adams County Sheriff’s Office that Grenus died as a result of her injuries. As for Konrad, he remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
