Woman dies from injuries after being struck by truck in Independence

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 40-year-old Independence woman has died after being struck by a truck last week on 78-Highway.

The incident was reported just after 12:30 p.m. in the area of 78-Highway (23rd Street) and Savage Street, according to the Independence Police Department.

Police said the crash happened when the driver of a 2017 Ram 2500 was turning east on 78-Highway from Savage Street and struck two people.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, according to police.

Police say one pedestrian died from her injuries and has been identified as Nicole Robbins.

The second pedestrian involved was treated for injuries and has been released from the hospital.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
