Woman killed in overnight shooting in Akron: Police

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – Police detectives are investigating after a woman was shot and killed in Akron early Sunday morning.
Officers were called around 12:26 a.m. to a shooting in the 100 block of Socrates Place, according to the Akron Police Department.

When they got there, officers found a 24-year-old woman with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso.
Emergency crews took the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

Monday morning, the Summit County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Paige Calich, 24, of Akron and said she was discovered in the doorway with multiple gunshot wounds.
A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, who hasn’t been identified, left the scene on foot after the shooting, according to Akron police.
The shooting, ruled a homicide, remains under investigation at this time.
