Wondering about the construction across from University Town Plaza? Here's what it is.
Have you noticed a new structure being built near University Town Plaza?
A new Hilton-brand hotel is being developed which will be named Tru by Hilton. The project will add another hotel to the University Town Plaza area, which has more than ten existing hotels stretching from East Burgess Road to Interstate 10.
The project’s development order from Escambia County shows that the hotel will have 98 rooms, four stories and more than 44,000 square feet of space. Developers are building the project on a site that’s 1.61 acres that will also have 98 parking spaces.
The hotel’s site used to be the home of a fast-food restaurant and it can be found in between Wendy’s and Zips Car Wash on North Davis Highway.
The site is getting completely redeveloped in order to provide paved parking, a new stormwater pond and a new road for the hotel leading onto North Davis Highway. This road will be the only exit from the hotel.
The project is also being developed across the street from the incoming Jim ‘N Nicks BBQ, a new restaurant franchise for the Pensacola area being built next to Bubba’s 33.
