Years-long closure of I-70 downtown on-ramp delayed, again: How it will impact commutes?
The years-long closure of the State Route 315 southbound ramp to I-70 eastbound will have to wait a few more days.
The Ohio Department of Transportation said it is moving the closure to Sunday, May 19 at 11 p.m. marking the latest in a string of on-again, off-again closures of the busy stretch of highway.
Initially, it was set to close on May 4 but was delayed to May 10. However, crews couldn't get the resurfacing of I-670—the ramp closure's planned detour route—finished that week due to weather, so ODOT pushed it back another week to May 17.
The ramp is set to close for several years as part of ODOT's Downtown Ramp Up project to reconstruct the highways in and around downtown Columbus. The project started in 2010 and will likely continue into the 2030s.
The price tag for Downtown Ramp Up is $1.4 billion.

The 315 ramp isn't the only highway artery closing in the next week, according to ODOT's weekly construction update.
