Yellowstone season 5B teases Kevin Costner exit Paramount+

Yellowstone's upcoming season has teased Kevin Costner's exit in a brand new trailer.

The long-awaited second half of season five is set to arrive on Paramount+ this November, though Costner's leading man John Dutton will be written out of the episodes after the actor announced his exit from the show last year.

The season's newly-released trailer on Instagram begins with Costner's patriarch narrating: "Legacy. You build something worth having. Someone’s gonna try to take it."

"What I’m doing isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us," says Cole Hauser’s Rip, while another clip shows Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton pulling out a knife.

Elsewhere, Jaime Dutton (Wes Bentley) warns Beth: "You destroy me, you destroy yourself," to which Beth replies: "Unlike you, I keep my promises."

After Costner's exit from Yellowstone was reported last year, the show subsequently announced that it would be ending with season five.

However, the Western drama's future after season five recently received a huge update, with Deadline reporting that negotiations are underway for a sixth season with Reilly and Hauser in leading roles.

While a number of cast members are likely to return for a potential sixth season, Costner likely won't, having previously shut the door on any possible future appearances.

"I'm not going to be able to continue season 5B or into the future," he said last year, adding: "I loved it, and I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won't be returning."

Yellowstone returns for season 5 part 2 on Sunday, November 10 in the US and Monday, November 11 in the UK. It streams on Paramount+.
