Zoombezi Bay to close Dolphin Dash, one of its original attractions, this year
Zoombezi Bay, the water park at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, will shutter one of its original attractions in September, the park announced Wednesday on its Facebook page.
The Dolphin Dash, a 51-foot, six-lane, headfirst water slide, will give its final ride to attendees on Labor Day, which is Monday, Sept. 2. The water park did not give a reason as to why it is closing the Dolphin Dash in its Facebook post, and additional comment was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
While the park plans to shut down Dolphin Dash, the Facebook post said visitors should expect a new attraction by 2025. Additional details remain under wraps.
"This new attraction will put Zoombezi Bay on the map and become a guest favorite in 2025 and beyond," the water park said in its post. "Stay tuned as more details are released later this year!"
Visitors who are interested in a final slide on the Dolphin Dash can purchase tickets at zoombezibay.com.
Zoombezi Bay opened its doors in 2008 and has hosted over 6 million guests and boasts more than a dozen aquatic attractions, including the Otter Banks, the Otter Banks, and the Python Plunge.
