Paulina Porizkova feels 'incredible hurt and betrayal' for being cut from Ric Ocasek's will

Paulina Porizkova admits that being cut from estranged husband’s Ric Ocasek’s will hurt.

When it was first revealed that the Cars frontman, who died suddenly in September, removed his model wife from his will — stingingly writing he was doing so “because she has abandoned me” — Porizkova said she had known about it for months and insisted that “he didn’t” really feel abandoned. However, now she’s revealing that it hurt deeply.

“It made the grieving process really, really tricky,” Porzikova said in a preview of her interview with CBS Sunday Morning. “I would love to be able to be sad and miss him. And not also feel this incredible hurt and betrayal.”

While Porzikova and Ocasek, who married in 1989, separated in 2017, they still made public appearances together and never legally divorced. She told CBS that they still lived in the same home when he died.

Porzikova was the one who found him dead as she was caring for him after an unspecified surgery. He died in his sleep from heart disease — or, more specifically, hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, per the medical examiner.

Of finding him that fateful day, she said it was “the worst moment of my life.”

In November, Page Six reported that Ocasek’s will filing listed his assets as $5 million in “copyrights,” with $100,000 in “tangible personal property” and $15,000 in cash. Four of his six sons — including the two with Porizkova — were included in the will, but two others weren’t.

The will was signed on Aug. 28 — weeks before his death — and in it, he noted: “I have made no provision for my wife Paulina Porizkova (“Paulina”) as we are in the process of divorcing... Even if I should die before our divorce is final … Paulina is not entitled to any elective share … because she has abandoned me.”

The executor of Ocasek’s will was his business manager, Mario Testani. Porizkova said he is also her business advisor and alerted, just days after Ocasek died, that she was cut.

In Sunday’s interview, Porzikova also talked about her willingness to post makeup-free images on social media.

"I actually bona fide lost a job because I did one of my, 'Look at me. This is my face without makeup' [posts],” she said. “And I've never used Botox or fillers.”

Though she doesn’t judge women who do, she admits she used to.

"I used to go, 'Oh, you know, I can't believe anybody's injecting themselves and changing the way they look,’” she admitted. “And now I think, 'No, you know, it's really freaking hard to be a woman. And it's really freaking hard to be a woman over 50. Because we really get dismissed from the table.’”

She added, "We have, like, a weird zone between, you're J.Lo looking fabulous, and then Betty White. And there's kind of, like, a dead zone between the two. So, I'm trying to fill that dead zone."
