Shia LaBeouf Just Married Mia Goth in Vegas — and His Wedding Was as Bizarre as You’d Expect It to Be
Shia LaBeouf will not be lonesome tonight. He just married girlfriend Mia Goth in Las Vegas — with some help from Elvis.
The performance artist extraordinaire, 30, tied the knot with the actress, whom he met on the set of Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012, at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. The intimate event was live-streamed, so we all just sat here at our desks and watched them do the deed in a bizarre ceremony that included officiant Elvis, a hula dancer, and a woman singing Bruce Springsteen’s “Hungry Heart.”
The Transformers star did not wear a paper bag over his head for his big day. He had on a suit for the occasion — with some white kicks and a boutonniere. The British actress and model, who is seven years his junior, had on a short white dress, which LaBeouf seemed to dig because he had his hands on the rear of it as they danced following their nuptials.
The ceremony, which took place Monday at 11:30 a.m. PT (per the chapel’s official site), was nontraditional, as you’d expected a Vegas wedding to be. At the altar, a woman in a little black dress sang the Springsteen song, and she was joined by an Elvis impersonator — showing his chest — and a hula dancer.
At the end, the newlyweds embraced a woman, who appeared to be his mother, Shayna Saide.
The pair was featured on the chapel’s website — you could even buy them a gift! — but soon after the wedding ended, it mysteriously disappeared.
Shia’s wedding was all very Shia. Over the past few years, you have no idea what is real and what is a performance with him. The troubled star, who has also weathered several arrests and a plagiarism scandal (he recently celebrated one year of sobriety), wore a bag over his head on the red carpet, invited strangers to scream at him at his #IAmSorry installation, and went on a hitchhiking adventure across America in something he dubbed #TakeMeAnywhere.
Knowing that, these two probably have quite an exciting honeymoon in store. It sure will be hard to top the wedding.
