Dads' Adorable Love Song to Future Baby

When Joey Famoso and Joe Morales decided to create an adoption video that would introduce them to birth mothers looking for a family to adopt their children, the Minneapolis couple knew they wanted to make one that would stand out. “Joey said, ‘Let’s sing and dance,’” Morales tells Yahoo Parenting. “I was like, ‘Ha ha.’ Then I thought, ‘Well, actually we really could write a song…”
Within the hour, he says, they’d jotted down 90 percent of the lines for their parody of Meghan Trainor’s “Dear Future Husband,” which they titled, of course, “Dear Future Baby.” The duo then took two weeks wordsmithing the lyrics. A sample: “We won’t let you cry. Always keep you dry. Even when ya diaper makes us wanna freaking die.” Less than two months later, with the help of local production company Atomic K Records, they were able to post the polished results to YouTube on Feb. 20. Since then it’s gone viral, with 19,000 views and counting, thrilling the aspiring dads. Each view and each forward, after all, brings them closer to hopefully finding the woman who will help them start their family.

“Everything that we sing, we believe,” says Morales, 33, who works in human resources. “We know that that is what we will do.” He and financial analyst Famoso, 31, intentionally took out some of the melody in Trainor’s song to be able to include all of the things they wanted to say to their child-to-be. STORY: I Was About to Retire Before We Adopted a Teenager
“We wanted to make it about the full journey we’ll share with our child,” Morales says. “So we sing about the time beyond when he or she is just a baby, and go into the child growing up and going into college.” That extended perspective was important to the couple of five years because they wanted prospective birth mothers to know that they understand adopting a child is a lifetime commitment. “As we’ve been going through the adoption process, we see how easily you can get focused on having a baby but they’re really only a baby for a short time and we want mothers to know that we’re joyful about all of the stages that parenting brings.”
Their adoption journey started a year ago. But in November they were dealt a heartbreaking blow when a birth mother who’d selected them to parent her child — and invited the men to be present as she welcomed the baby, even letting them cut the umbilical cord — decided one day after the infant was born that she wanted to keep her child. “That was two days before Thanksgiving,” Famoso told CBS Minnesota. “So it was kind of a rough Thanksgiving. But we had the support of each other and our family and we pulled through it.”
“That experience made us recognize, and reassured us, how strongly we want to be parents,” Morales tells Yahoo Parenting, admitting that the process is “very emotionally tough.” And so, just a couple of months later, they re-invested in their birth mother search, with their video.

“We love that it fully depicts each of our personalities,” he says. “Joey is just really fun and jovial and you can see it by the way he’s dancing and joking. I’m usually more serious. But seeing us together, the way we look at each other, it really captures us.” He’s also happy that having it professionally produced made it a true keepsake, noting, “We’ll have this forever.” Here’s to future grandkids hopefully enjoying it, too.
“Dear Future Baby”
Dear future baby
Here’s a few things
You’ll need to know cause
you’re gonna be our
Dear future baby
Here’s a few things
You’ll need to know cause
you’re gonna be our one and only all our life

Always keep you dry
Even when ya diaper makes us wanna freaking die
Cause We will treat ya right

Buying what you need
Buy-buying your binkies
Sleeping 3 to 5
Then baby so will I
So don’t be thinking
Well be sleeping while
We let you cry
Well let your baba cook
And then sing you this hook
Sing along with me
Sing sing along with me (hey)

Just how to treat you like a baby
Even when
You’re acting cranky
We’ll make everything alright
Dear future baby
