These Dad Fashion Photos Will Crack You Up

Anyone who’s ever cringed when Dad walked down the stairs in jean shorts, sparkling white sneaks, and an old T-shirt from the Bronx Zoo (not that I know anything about that) will find lots familiar in the instantly viral Instagram account, “Fashion Dads.” Though the account only posted its first photo on December 24, it already has more than 48,500 followers.
Alongside photos of fathers in baseball caps and ill-fitting jeans are hilarious captions written in classic fashion blogger style. The caption for the above photo of one mono-chrome dad: “It’s #BoxingDay and I’m relaxing after all the holiday hoopla and celebrating my #Canadian roots in all red #Polo and a touch of white with my favorite athletic socks. Wearing the same color and designer from head to toe makes a strong and powerful style statement.” Then, a laundry list of hashtags, including #AllRedEverything.
Here are few more favorites:
“The key to a #CasualChic ensemble is looking like it was effortless. While it may have taken me hours to pair these #vintage #LeviStrauss cutoffs with a gray #Hanes tee and my trendy #topsiders, it appears that I just threw it on and stepped outside. And like I always say, the perfect hat can truly complete any outfit!!”
“Decisions, Decisions, Decisions. When shopping for an upcoming vacation there are so many choices. Do I go with the light kaki or the navy blue Hawaiian print shirt? TRICK QUESTION, you can never have too many Hawaiian print shirts! If you are looking for a wide selection, I recommend going to your local #Kohls or #JCPenney stores. They have a variety of colors and patterns at reasonable prices! I love the whimsical guitar and palm tree pattern on this one, perfect for a trip to #Margaritaville or the local disco”
The account, started by Atlanta friends Ashley Hesseltine and Travis May, was born of their own fathers’ notable style choices over the holidays. “We were talking about our own dads’ ridiculous outfits and were like, ‘We should create an Instagram account for this,” Hesseltine told ABC News. “We started with pictures of our own dads then people started submitting them.”
Though her less-than-fashion-savvy dad may have inspired the account, Hesseltine told Today.com that he might be enjoying his new role as muse. “I swear he even started dressing extra special over the holiday after we started the account.”
“I love love LOVE sports, but when the seasons overlap, it can be tough to stay #FashionForward. That’s why I paired this #ChicagoBears tee with my#OrlandoMagic swishy jacket and topped it off with a red #WhiteSox ball cap to stay ahead of the trends. You can never be too prepared! And of course, I’m wearing my favorite #Dockers khakis to complete the look.”
“If there’s one style mantra I live by: Footwear. Is. Everything. I love these #vintage white leather Velcro sneakers with a navy accent on the tongue. They look fab with my #Arizona relaxed fit jeans and are #fashionable and #functional.”
