GC Softball: Kerens wins 4-3 with a walkoff Tuesday and downs Cayuga 12-10 Friday to sweep the series

Apr. 1—BETHEL — The Kerens LadyCats scored 11 runs in the first two innings Friday, and hung on to beat rival Cayuga 12-10 in a huge district game to sweep the two-game series. Blair Blue's walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Kerens to a 4-3 win over Cayuga Tuesday.

Ella Engel led the way, going 3-for-4 with a double, scoring and driving in a run and Olivia Holt went 2-for-4 with a triple, scored and drove in two runs.

Jaden Brumit went 2-for-4, scored and drove in two runs, Brooke Sikes went 1-for-4, scored and drove in a run, Sarah Massey went 1-for-4, scored and drove in a run and Kynzee Elmore drove in a run to sweep the two-game series.

Rylee Spivey, who nailed down her 500th career strikeout last week, went the distance with 10 strikeouts Friday and went 2-for-4 and scored twice on a day when every run counted.

Kerens won Tuesday 4-3 on Blair Blue's walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.

Sikes went 2-for-3 with a home run, Holt went 2-for-3, Blue went 1-for-3 and Kayla Gonzales went 1-for-3.

Kerens is now 21-7 overall and 6-3 in the district race. The LadyCats travel to La Poynor Tuesday for the first of two games against the Flyers.
