H.S. Roundup: Berne Union softball wins seventh straight MSL-Cardinal title
SOFTBALL
Berne Union 7, Fisher Catholic 2: The Lady Rockets (17-6, 11-1) jumped out to a 4-1 first inning lead and never looked back in their Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win over the Irish to give Berne Union its seventh consecutive MSL-Cardinal Division championship.
Abbi Hintz went the distance in the circle, giving up two earned runs, three hits and striking out five.
Hintz and Josilyn Hedges had two hits each and Cloee Walton had a hit and two RBI. Baylee Mirgon was on base four times as she was hit by a pitch and intentionally walked three times.
BASEBALL
Lancaster 9, Chillicothe 0: The Golden Gales cruised past the visiting Cavaliers on Senior Night to improve to 16-3 on the season.
Colton Hullinger and Mason Henson each had three hits, while Riley Poston, Harrison Allen, Keegan Montgomery and Ajay Locke all had one hit. Carter Ross and Isaac Cooperrider combined to throw the shutout. Cooperrider had eight strikeouts in three innings of work.
Berne Union 11, Fisher Catholic 1: The Rockets (13-1-1, 12-0) banged out 13 hits to secure an outright Mid-State League-Cardinal Division championship in their win over the Irish.
Sammy Amnah went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs, Austin Snyder had two hits, including a double and scored three runs, while Russ Blank, Luke Shafer and Hudson Gerken all finished with two hits and one RBI each. Nate Nemeth had a hit and an RBI and Dylan Winkler had a hit.
Lance Burroughs pitched all five innings, giving up four hits, one run and he struck out three.

Liberty Union 11, Logan 1: The Lions led 8-0 at the end of the third inning and cruised from there in a non-conference win over the Chieftains.
Cayden Carroll had two hits and two RBI, Ian Wilson went 2-for-3 and scored three runs and Colton Hutchison had a hit and two RBI.
John Edwards started and pitched three innings, giving up one hit and striking out five. Austin Ety pitched two innings and didn’t allow a hit while striking out three. Trevor Wood and Carroll also pitch.
