Insider Sheds Light Into Potential Trade Involving Their 2019 First-Round Pick
Former Arizona Coyotes reporter and now Utah Hockey Club reporter Craig Morgan has revealed some information regarding their former 2019 first-round pick, Victor Soderstrom.
Soderstrom, 23, has struggled to find his way in the NHL. He's only played in 53 NHL games and recorded one goal and 11 assists.
If it wasn't already hard to find his way to the NHL before, it would be even now after the moves that GM Bill Armstrong made at the 2024 NHL Draft.
Utah acquired both Mikhail Seragchev and John Marino, which essentially solidified the top four on their blueline.
Also hearing that while Utah is open to re-signing RFA D-man Victor S?derstr?m, the team is also exploring trades for the 2019 11th overall pick.
S?derstr?m, 23, has yet to establish any kind of NHL foothold, totaling 53 NHL games (1 G, 11 pts.) over the past three seasons. https://t.co/QLkHzI2T4b— Craig Morgan (@CraigSMorgan) July 14, 2024
Soderstrom would be a good pickup by an up-and-coming team like the San Jose Sharks that could give him more playing time. Utah has transitioned into a contending team now and will be trying to compete for a playoff spot.
In terms of an asking price for Soderstrom, it'll likely be a draft pick or potentially a forward prospect who can play in the AHL.
Morgan also mentioned that Steven Kampfer has returned to the KHL. Unfortunately, he would likely be playing in the AHL with the additions they made on the back end.
