Josh Allen is 0-2 vs Josh Allen. They meet again Monday night, but there's a difference.

There won't be a Josh Allen vs. Josh Allen Part III.

The namesake matchup that's a football Spider-Man pointing meme will look a little different this year. Even the result is likely to change.

It's now Josh Allen vs. Josh Hines-Allen when the Buffalo Bills play the Jacksonville Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday Night Football at Highmark Stadium.

The Jaguars edge rusher hyphenated his last name from Josh Allen to become Josh Hines-Allen over the summer. So there's only one NFL team in New York and one Josh Allen in the NFL.

That might not be a bad thing for Buffalo. The Bills' Josh Allen was 0-2 against the Jaguars' sack artist formerly known as Josh Allen.

There are still a lot of commonalities between the Bills' Josh Allen and Jaguars' Josh Hines-Allen:

Why did Josh Allen change his name to Josh Hines-Allen?

The two-time Pro Bowl defensive end announced in July he officially changed his name from Josh Allen to Josh Hines-Allen. He wanted a double-barrelled surname to join two family names and pay tribute to his mother's side of the family.

"I've always been a Hines and legacy is forever," Hines-Allen said. "Family is important to me because when you come from a rich history of athletic people in your family and myself being the youngest one to go to all of my sister's games, to know what my uncles did in college and in the NBA, it just means something a little bit more."

Hines-Allen, who ranked third in the NFL last season with 17.5 sacks, has four older sisters who have the last name Hines-Allen, and a twin brother. When Josh and brother were born, their father, Robert, wanted the brothers to be Allens. Josh's parents divorced when Josh was a baby and he was raised primarily by the Hines side of the family.

One of his sisters, Myisha Hines-Allen, is a WNBA champion who plays for the Minnesota Lynx. Two other sisters, Kyra Hines-Allen (Cheyney University) and LaTorri Hines-Allen (irginia Tech and Towson) played college basketball. His uncle, Gregory Hines, is Hampton University's second all-time leading scorer and was drafted in the fifth round of the 1983 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.

Josh Allen vs. Josh Allen game results

Jacksonville's Josh Allen dragged the Buffalo quarterback's name through the mud during their first meeting in 2021.

He was a game-wrecker on defense with the biggest game of his young career, registering eight tackles, a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery when the Bills' Allen coughed up the ball as the Jaguars defeated the Bills, 9-6, in Week 9. The Bills' Allen completed 31 of 47 passes for 264 with two interceptions and a lost fumble.

The Jaguars' star became the first player to sack a quarterback with the same name. It was the fourth time in NFL history that a starting quarterback and defensive player with the same name faced each other. The others were Eagles QB Tommy Thompson and Browns LB Tommy Thompson twice in 1950, and Bills QB Todd Collins and Patriots LB Todd Collins in 1997.

Buffalo lost to Jacksonville 25-20 in Week 5 in London last year but there wasn't as much Allen on Allen action. The Jaguars' edge rusher was penalized in the fourth quarter for roughing the passer to give Buffalo a first-and-goal. Buffalo's Allen went 27 of 40 for 359 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and added a rushing touchdown as he tried to rally the Bills in the fourth quarter. Jacksonville's Allen had one tackle.

Josh Hines-Allen jersey swap event

Josh Hines-Allen will host a jersey exchange in Jacksonville for 100 fans on Friday, Sept. 20. The first 100 fans to uploaded a picture of themselves in a No. 41 Allen jersey could register for the event with Hines-Allen. He also committed to exchanging 50 jerseys for fans who don't live in the area and couldn't attend the event.
