Knight Monsters Sign NCAA Champion Defenseman

The Tahoe Knight Monsters have added defenseman Jake Johnson to their roster for the 2024-25 season, bringing their total number of players to 12 as of August 19.

The 26-year-old Bloomington, Minnesota resident joins Lake Tahoe after spending his rookie season with the Fort Wayne Komets, recording 3 goals and 16 assists for 19 points in 43 games. He played in three games with Fort Wayne during the 2022-23 season and scored two goals.

The 6-foot- 185-poind blueliner helped Quinnipiac University to an NCAA National Championship during his senior season in 2022-23, his only season at the school.

From 2018-22, he played at Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute (RPI), where he earned ECAC All-Academic Honors all four seasons and registered 62 points in 107 games.

Prior to college, Johnson spent his junior hockey career in the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampede and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders from 2016-18. At Bloomington Jefferson High School, he was named to the All-Conference his last two seasons.
