Local Sports: Dundee, Monroe swimmers excel; Bordine hits 1,000
TEMPERANCE – It took Dundee’s best to get past Bedford Tuesday night.
The Viking girls swimming team recorded nine personal-best times to nip Bedford 93-92.
Sara Carter led the way, winning the butterfly and 200-yard freestyle and swimming legs on the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Brook Hester was on both of those relays. Natalie Bron and Kaylee Imo completed the 200 quartet and Lily Ratliff and Joslyn Ball were on the 400.
Ball, Imo, Ratliff, and Bron completed a sweep of the relays by taking the medley.
Other individual winners were Hester in the 500, Ball in the backstroke, and Imo in the breaststroke.
Gabby Pisanti was a double-winner for Bedford, ruling the 50 and 100-yard freestyles. The Mules also got wins from Alexa Fuleky (individual medley) and Zoe Dusseau (diving).
PREP SWIMMING
Monroe squares record
MONROE – Monroe evened its record at 5-5 with convincing wins over Ypsilanti 126-36 and Erie Mason-Ida 102-74 Tuesday.
Nicole Rykse (200, 500-yard freestyle) and Sophia Smith (50, 100 freestyle) were double winners for the Trojans, who also swept the relays.
Relay members were Smith, Rykse, Lauren Lahna, Abby Dieckmann, Kate Rolinski, Delani Willey and Phoebe Lietaert. Katie Murphy, Ana Bredschneider and Kate Rolinski also swam well.
Mason-Ida beat Ypsilanti 125-40 led by double-winner Riley Jacobs.
Sophia Sorg, Jessica Lay, and Mia Balcerzak were other top scorers for the Eagles.
PREP VOLLEYBALL
Bordine reaches 1,000 digs
HUDSON – Briley Bordine recorded 19 digs to go over 1,000 for her career as Dundee turned aside Hudson 25-17, 25-15, 25-7 Tuesday.
“She has the ability to read hitters so well and will sacrifice her body to get to any ball,” Dundee coach Keri Salenbien said of Bordine. “Her defense leads this team.”
Kennedy Irwin paced the offense with 12 kills and Avery Ball played well at the net.
Sipert leads Mason attack
ERIE – Jada Sipert racked up 17 kills to lead Erie Mason to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 win over Summerfield Tuesday.
Rylee Grodi (15 digs), Zoie Stubleski (9 digs), and Jayanna Willets (9 digs) led the defense and Brooklyn Langenderfer recorded 32 assists as the Eagles improved to 15-8 overall and 7-2 in the Tri-County Conference.
Mia Miller registered 7 kills for Summerfield while Jaeli Jones contributed 6 kills and 4 blocks.
Summerfield took the junior varsity match 12-25, 27-25, 15-9 behind strong play from Bethany Suydam, Juliet Keane, and Maya Stone.
Bedford seniors shine
TEMPERANCE – Bedford seniors Jaelyn Hall (10 kills, .529), Mya Krohn (11 digs), Macy Madalinski (6 kills, 4 aces), Maddie Goforth (6 Digs, 2 aces), and Kadie Morse (3 kills, 2 blocks) all made major contributions in a 25-10, 25-21, 25-20 win over Ann Arbor Pioneer on Senior Night Tuesday.
Victoria Gray (8 kills), Alivia Brown (6 kills), and Kaylin Schroeder (30 assists) also played well for the 40-3 Mules.
Bedford won the junior varsity and freshman matches.
PREP GOLF
Bedford places fourth
GROSSE ILE – Bedford was one spot away from qualifying for the state finals with a fourth-place finish in the Division 1 Regional at West Shores Wednesday.
The Mules shot 419, which was 13 shots away from the third and final qualifying position. Woodhaven won the meet with 350.
Mollie Plock and Lauren Werbiansky each carded a 102 for Bedford. Jersi Gossard added a 107 and Natalie Hackette 108.
Monroe was eighth with 442. Allison Casey (101) was 13th and Ashken Aaron (103) 17th for the Trojans.
CROSS COUNTRY
Mason ties for first
ADRIAN – Erie Mason’s boys tied Onsted for first place in Tuesday’s Adrian Madison Invitational, then won the title on the sixth-runner tiebreaker.
Mason went 2-4-10-11-13 with Austin Sulier, Parker Campbell, Collin Parent, Jackson Carner, and Brayden Hincher, then won with a 15th-place finish by Lucas Sachs.
Mason’s girls finished third led by Bailey Meiring in fifth, Elizabeth Lambert in 12th, and Lexi Colburn in 17th.
Trinity’s Rohr takes second
ANN ARBOR – Gavin Rohr took second place with a two-mile time of 11:49 in the Michigan Lutheran State Cross Country Championships Sunday.
He helped Trinity Lutheran’s boys take second place. Cole Butler placed seventh and Jacob Baron (23), Evan Dowen (26), and Kelly Leask (46) also ran well.
The girls place third led by Charity Frank-DeRoch (11), Kelsie Sikes (15), Ava Dowen (16), Hannah Finley (23), and Emma Boyd (27).
Both Trinity teams will run in the National Lutheran Championships Oct. 21 at Concordia, Wisc.
