Pharaoh Brown eyes revenge game opportunity against Patriots, but status remains unknown

Seattle Seahawks veteran tight end Pharaoh Brown missed Sunday's Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos with a foot injury. Brown suffered the setback in mid August during joint practices with the Tennessee Titans. He made Seattle's 53-man roster despite carrying a multi-week prognosis.

And Brown is itching to make his official Seahawks debut versus the New England Patriots in Week 2. Brown spent the entire 2023 campaign with the Patriots, catching his lone touchdown pass of the season, a 58-yard score, in September. Despite that, Jerod Mayo's new-look organization didn't show any interest in re-signing him this summer.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider signed Brown to a one-year contract worth $1.4 million in March. The Seahawks particularly missed Brown's blocking abilities during the first half of the Broncos game, where they struggled to establish the run. Head coach Mike Macdonald discussed Brown's race to play versus his former Patriots on Wednesday.

"We'll see where Pharaoh ends up at the end of the week," Macdonald said, leaving wiggle room for him to be active.

The Seahawks had Noah Fant, AJ Barner, and Brady Russell active at tight end versus the Broncos. Brown is itching to replace one of them, likely Russell, against the Patriots. Brown is racing against the clock to earn a revenge-game opportunity.
