Portage HS scores | Feb. 27: Preston Gedeon leads Garfield basketball to first-round upset
Preston Gedeon came up with another big performance to lift No. 42 Garfield to a 55-44 upset of No. 27 Lakeview in a Division III boys basketball sectional semifinal Tuesday.
Gedeon led all scorers with 23 points, including four 3-pointers, while Aidan Hill added 14 for the G-Men, who won all four quarters.
Mogadore 87, Lake Ridge Academy 42
Up 13 at the half, the Wildcats took complete control of a Division IV first-round game with a 34-4 third quarter to clinch coach Russ Swartz's 500th career win.
Lucas Butler had four 3-pointers and a game-high 22 points, and fellow Mogadore sharpshooter Layne Miller had 16 points and three 3-pointers.
Corey Lehner (13 points), Tanner Buso (12) and Devin Graham (11) joined Butler and Miller to give the Wildcats (20-3), who won their 19th straight game, five players in double figures.
