Prep sports: East soccer blanks New Prague

MANKATO — Ashley Fischer made five saves to lead Mankato East to a 4-0 victory over New Prague in a nonconference girls soccer match Monday at Thomas O. Anderson field.

Kaylie Geraets had a goal and assist for the Cougars, while Jenna Starkey, Abby Moule and Addy Lurken each scored a goal. Amber Reuter had two assists, and Taylor Schilling had one.

East (10-4-0) plays at Austin on Tuesday.

Hopkins 4, Mankato West girls 0: Hopkins scored two goals in the first three minutes and gained the nonconference shutout at Caswell North.

Anne Schill and Romo Smith split the game, with Schill making three saves and Smith making seven saves.

West (9-5) hosts Rochester John Marshall for Senior Night on Tuesday at Caswell North.

Girls tennis

Northfield 4, Waseca 3: Sarah Haley won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles for Waseca in a nonconference loss.

Takya Schoenrock won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Maddy Benson won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

Waseca (7-12) will start Section 1A play on Thursday.

New Ulm 6, Worthington 1: New Ulm swept the doubles matches in the Big South Conference match at New Ulm.

Lana Braun and Peyton Kveno won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Lexi Schneider and Aubrey Demarais won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles team of Hannah Davey and Morgan Hauenstein was a 6-0, 6-0 winner.

Karlee Prahl (6-0, 6-1), Lydia King (6-0, 6-3) and Carmen Schotzko (6-1, 6-1) each won singles matches for the Eagles.

Volleyball

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 3, Nicollet 0: Mia Lambrecht made 13 assists and served four aces in Nicollet's 25-17, 25-18, 25-18 nonconference loss at home.

Leah Bode had seven kills, and Savannah Klockziem made five kills. Kamryn Truebenbach made two blocks.

Nicollet plays at Madelia on Tuesday.

Holy Family Catholic 3, Le Sueur-Henderson 0: The Giants dropped a Minnesota River Conference match 25-16, 25-10, 25-12 at Le Sueur.
