Vote for the Athlete of the Week for April 3-8

Athlete of the Week nominees are selected from scores and statistics sent in by Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte county coaches throughout the week to [email protected]. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine the Athlete of the Week.

The last winner was Sarasota High baseball player Rex Smith, who garnered 560 votes or 55.8% of the vote.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal girls lacrosse player Ashling Marshall came in second with 426 votes or 42.3% of the vote

The poll will be posted at heraldtribune.com each Monday, and voting will end at 10 a.m. Friday each week.

Went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four runs batted in against Venice

Went 2-for-3 with a run scored and run batted in against Venice

Zoey Mills, Lemon Bay, softball

Allowed four hits and one run with nine strikeouts in seven innings against Lake Placid

Isabella Thompson, Riverview, softball

Went 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored against North Port

Isabella “Isa” Vega, Parrish Community, softball

Pitched a seven-inning no-hitter with 17 strikeouts against Palmetto
