Vote here for the Spartanburg Herald-Journal high school football athlete of the week
Eight weeks of the South Carolina high school fall sports season have come and gone and we saw some remarkable performances from Spartanburg-area athletes this week.
Now it's time to pick the Spartanburg Herald-Journal football athlete of the week. Here are the six nominees. Voting closes Thursday at 5 p.m.
QB Kamajay Brackett-Brannon, Broome: In Broome's 42-21 win over Blue Ridge, Brackett-Brannon rushed for 103 yards with two touchdowns on 10 carries. He also threw for 164 yards with two TDs on 16-of-20 passing.
WR Ethan Morris, Byrnes: In a 38-31 double-overtime win over Boiling Springs, Morris caught seven passes for 128 yards with three touchdowns.
QB Andrew Stevens, Byrnes: On 23-of-30 passing, Stevens threw for 273 yards with four total touchdowns.
REGION 2 WARRIORS: How Gaffney football topped Spartanburg, took big step toward region showdown with Byrnes
RB Jaiden McDowell, Gaffney: McDowell ran for 91 yards on 23 carries, and caught nine passes for 176 yards with a touchdown.
QB Riley Staton, Gaffney: On 21-of-30 passing, Staton threw for 343 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He also ran for 25 yards on three carries.
ATH Hunter West, Woodruff: In a 36-35 win over Emerald, West caught three passes for 78 yards and three touchdowns.
