The 77th annual Golden Globe Awards, the first major awards show of the year, were the perfect opportunity for celebs to show off their sartorial know-how dressed in this season’s biggest colour.
2020 has been dubbed the year of Classic Blue, according to Pantone, and we’re already seeing it make its way into decor, beauty and fashion. This year’s red carpet was no exception, as attendees rocked the classic hue, each putting their own unique spin on it.

“Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era,” describes the Pantone website.
A deep blue that’s just a shade lighter than a true navy, Classic Blue is one colour that we’ll definitely be seeing more of as the year goes on.
Newcomers like Beanie Feldstein and Ana de Armas opted for sequinned gowns in deep shades of blue, while veteran Glenn Close chose a velvet gown in the classic shade for her own appearance.
As for Shailene Woodley and Salma Hayek, the two proved that pops of colour mixed with neutrals bring a welcoming touch to any special-occasion look.
Not just a hit colour choice for the ladies of the Golden Globes, many men attending the awards ceremony also mixed things up by taking a break from their traditional black tuxedos.
Actors Ansel Elgort, Sacha Baron Cohen, Nicholas Braun, and Jason Momoa all walked the red carpet in various shades of blue, looking dapper and totally trendy.
