Katy Perry Debuts New ’Do, Hunter McGrady Shows Sexy Curves at iHeartRadio Awards
Maybe blondes do have more fun! Katy Perry was the life of the party on Sunday evening as celebs hit the red carpet for the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The pop princess debuted her blond pixie ’do, which Hollywood hairstylist Chris McMillan cut for her earlier this week. And judging by the whistles from the crowd, it appeared that her fans approved of the singer’s latest look.
During the show, Perry was out to have a good time: “However you want to label me. I don’t care!”
Speaking of embracing themselves, curvy model Hunter McGrady, who recently rocked a painted-on bathing suit in Sports Illustrated, proudly bared it all on the iHeart red carpet in an edgy ensemble by Chromat, Prabal Gurung for Lane Bryant, and Fashion to Figure. “I just threw on what I wanted to wear. I feel like a lot of people try to put curvy girls in this category of ‘you can’t wear this. You can only wear this.’ I kind of said, ‘You know what? I’m just going to wear what I want. And so I threw it on, and here I am. I feel supersexy in it!” she happily exclaimed.
The blond stunner, who has several big shoots planned, told Yahoo Style that she is thrilled to be a part of the current body diversity movement. “It’s something that’s always been in my heart and something that I’ve been so proud of. I struggled with a lot of insecurity when I was younger. I mean I still do. Of course I’m only human,” she said. “I just want women out there to know that you are beautiful in the skin that you’re in. And what people deem flaws are not flaws. Everyone has these things, whether it be stretch marks, cellulite, acne, whatever it is.”
And former Bachelorette star JoJo Fletcher, who arrived at the show sans fiancé Jordan Rodgers — “He’s actually in L.A. with me right now, but he has a radio show. So he’s doing that tonight, and then he’ll meet up with me after all of this,” she said about his absence — opted for a playful look in a Free People jumpsuit.
Deeming herself a clothing fanatic, the 26-year-old has been tuning in to this season of The Bachelor, to cheer on Nick Viall and to check out the fashion sense of the women vying for his heart. “I think Vanessa is stunning. She looks great in everything she wears. I will say that a lot of the girls dress really well, but Vanessa is a standout for me,” she said.
Fletcher says her personal style has greatly improved since her stint as the Bachelorette. “I’ve always loved fashion. I loved to buy clothes, but I never knew what was best, what looked best on me. I didn’t pay attention to the colors that looked best on my skin tone, what’s flattering and what’s not flattering,” she said. But nowadays, she’s confidently selecting her own attire, as she did with the “very last-minute” ensemble that she purchased to wear to the awards ceremony.
The reality star gushed to reporters about engaged life. And though she mentioned that she and Rodgers are taking their time before heading to the altar, she has started to think about the big day — at least in terms of the fashion department.
“Before I was ever engaged, I made a Pinterest board of what I wanted my wedding dress to look like, and there’s so many different styles. I don’t know what I want, but I feel like every time I see a new dress and if it’s a different style, I’m like, ‘I love that! I want to try it!’” she told Yahoo Style. Fletcher joked that even though she hasn’t started the search, she knows that she is going to have to pencil in a lot of time to find the perfect gown. “I think I’m going to be the [bride] that wants to try on a ton of dresses. Even if I try one on and love it the first time, I’ll want to try on a ton more,” she said.
