For last day of fashion month, I’m going to give a shout out to three accessories, courtesy of Miu Miu. The Miu Miu girl is always a little more kooky, a little more colorful than her older sister Prada. She also likes a bold accessory. Case in point: this headband, which is not your average diamanté rock chick version but rather a more goth prom queen style. The classic ballet flat gets a punk makeover for Miu Miu girl with a satin base and leather straps. And what better way to channel your Margot Tenebaum than with this fur charm hanging off you ladylike bag?

For the Chanel show today, Karl Lagerfeld turned the venue into an enormous airport terminal, “Chanel Airlines” terminal to be exact. It was an appropriate setting for this fashion crowd, which was made up the house’s bazzilionaire clients and the usual globetrotting stylists and editors. While most of the world flies in a standard uniform of Uggs and sweatpants, Lagerfeld believes in high flying fashion. And what better way to travel in style than with this quilted weekend wheelie bag? Just add Chanel’s silver crocodile bag and classic quilted purse and you’re ready for boarding.
Punk Rock Mary Janes at Sacai.
Sacai is not a label that is loud, gimmicky or a celebrity pleaser. Instead, Japanese designer Chitose Abe quietly goes about doing her own thing, which has become a thing that is coveted by a certain sect of the fashion world— those who, say, covet the hidden details or the tiny flourishes of a garment. At Sacai, that translates into subtle pleating and clever layering on sweaters or bomber jackets. Abe doesn’t skimp on the accessories either and today she sent her models down the runway in pointed patent leather shoes with a chunky, low heel, a buckle and a strip of colorful lace popping out from beneath the fishnet socks. Haider Ackerman Revives Multi-Colored Hair
Every girl wants to be the Haider Ackermann girl. So when she walked down the runway in Paris this weekend, sporting multi-colored spiked hair (think My Little Pony-meets-Napoleon) looking like an sci-fi punk, the editors in the crowd were secretly plotting visits to their colorists back home. Dressed in low slung pants and silk dresses with cropped, tight-fitting jackets, the look was both elegant and rebellious.

J.W.Anderson’s Catch of the day for Loewe.
J.W.Anderson is fashion’s current golden boy because of the cool aesthetic he infuses into both his own JW Anderson line and the Spanish fashion label Loewe, which he showed today. When it comes to accessories, Anderson doesn’t take himself too seriously. Instead he creates whimsical pieces to complement his bold clothes. Today that meant bird silhouette brooches, oversized geometrical earrings dangling from one ear, and a large fish.
Eddie Borgo’s “Sybil” Headband.
Eddie Borgo doesn’t make dainty, feminine jewelry. The Atlanta-born designer is inspired by everything from padlocks to punk rock to the Tuarage tribes of Africa. So when I spotted this “Sybil” headband, I knew this was not your average preppy girl accessory. The silver band with rock crystals and hand cut pave crystals looks innocent enough but with a name like Sybil (perhaps after the character with multiple personality disorder in the ‘70s cult film of the same name?!) I could see this perched on the heads of party girl princesses like Cara Delevingne and Courtney Love.
Hermes Red Croc Heels.
Refinement and luxury are the usual words that pop into my head when I think of Hermes. But throw these heels into the mix and I’m thinking more along the lines of lustfulness, greed and just, well, holy crap I want these! The sandals, made by the whimsical shoe designer Pierre Hardy for Hermès Spring/Summer 2016, are just the right height (no more than 3inches) and wait for it, in red python! Put all your other shoes on ebay and add your name to the wait list.
The Row’s Crocodile Tote.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have upped their fashion game this season by bringing The Row, their cool, minimalist label to Paris. Of course editors came swarming to see what fashion’s wonder twins would unveil. Two words: unabashed luxury. Their uptown-style accessories, like this impossibly expensive crocodile tote, scream old school Rive Gauche rich. Move over Hermes!

Italians do it better and that really is the case when it comes to Dolce & Gabbana. The duo’s Spring 2016 collection was inspired by an Sicilian vacation, I mean, have you seen the designers’ vacation snaps on Instagram?! Models came down the runway taking selfies of themselves and the image was projected up on a screen. The lady carries a woven bag covered in multi colored pompoms and of course, the most important item, her phone which is accessorized with a jewel encrust Dolce & Gabbana phone case!

Giuseppe Zanotti Suede Sandals.
On Day 4 of Milan Fashion Week it was time to look at fine leather goods — and no one is more Milan-centric than Guiseppe Zanotti. The jewels on these black suede mega heels were inspired by the bright lights of the road, hence the designer calling this his “On the Road, Route 66” collection. We doubt that the Zanotti lady is driving herself along America’s oldest highway in these killer heels — she has a driver, thank you very much! Speaking of which, a very chic Ciara was exiting the presentation as we entered and we were told that she too loved these too!
Emporio Armani’s Sparkly Sandals.
Emporio Armani’s spring collection was, according to the designer’s team, “a gentle breeze, air blows gently, moving lines and shadows” and accessories give an “on the road feel.” But the flesh pink open-toe sandals with jewel-encrusted straps which Mr Armani showed are far too beautiful for the asphalt. Fendi Micro Baguette Bag.
Karl Lagerfeld never shies away from an over-the-top accessory whether it’s his furry “Bug” bag or the Karlito, a mini-me version of the Kaiser himself dangling from a keychain. So today at Fendi, we waited with bated breath to see what charms papa Karl has in store for us. The peekaboo bag gets me every time, but the micro baguette was the star of show. The tiny clutch came with a handle and hula hoop-sized shoulder strap, emblazoned with a geometric print. To top it off, there was a leather floral appliqué hanging off the bag. It was pure Karl: luxurious, whimsical and sure to make a statement this spring.

No. 21 Sparkly Headband.
Designer Alessandro Dell'Acqua wants you to feel like a prom queen for the day! While the long gauzy dresses and curious feathery clodhopper shoes (one editor commented they looked like hedgehogs) evoked a gothy teen world, the sparkly silver diamante headbands suggested a princess fantasy. With a vintage a soundtrack (George Micheal’s “Angels and Cowboys” and Pat Benatar’s “Love is a Battlefield,”) accompanying the looks, it was a pretty in punk vibe for sure.

Anya Hindmarch retro blue and white boots.
On the last day of London Fashion Week we were treated to a retro-futuristic show courtesy of Anya Hindmarch. Models wore body suits with neck scarves and go-go style boots, looking like stylish airline stewardesses from the ‘60s. And never to shy away from a whimsical accessory, Hindmarch showed 'Boots’ boots, paying homage to the popular British drugstore chain. It was appropriate messaging for all the sniffling editors in the front row —London’s soggy, frigid weather has left the fashion pack with battling an early season flu!— to head to the beloved pharmacy afterwards.
Christopher Kane’s Zip Ties.
Christopher Kane showed flirty, feminine dresses in pastels and paint-splattered patterns today, but it was his zip tie accessory that got me excited. Those plastic little ties you use to cinch up trash bags were cleverly repurposed here as colorful necklaces, bracelets, hairbands and belts. In his program notes Kane wrote, “The CK girl might be damaged goods this season but her power comes from the individuality of her outsider experience and her refusal to pay attention to rules.” There was certainly an outsider vibe to the look (think 90’s homemade rave scene!), but it certainly wasn’t rubbish material. In fact, I’m ready to tie one on!
Topshop’s Country House Party Heels.
These Topshop pointed toe sling backs with a bow detail remind me of the Miu Miu heels that are sold out and not in my price range! Worn with cropped pants or a slinky black slip, heavenly. But the most important part, they are affordable and definitely within all our price range!
Simone Rocha’s Pear-Shaped Crystal Earrings.
My first full day at London Fashion Week is coming to a close and already I have seen so many exciting looks and accessories but none bit me as much as the always-stunning Simone Rocha. First of all, the show was at Lancaster House in St. James, which basically means right next door to Prince Charles and Camilla’s house — and word on the street tonight was they were on their way home! If that wasn’t fabulous enough, the clothes were also as striking as the location.
The large, pear-shaped crystal earrings would have been OTT if they were paired with anything plain, but thankfully, Rocha’s collection was subtly ornate, with its woodland-princess dresses, exaggerated shapes, and plastic cross-body harnesses. The size and simplicity of the earrings were a wonderful balance to this intriguing, intricate collection.
Marc Jacobs Pop Art Bag.
Marc Jacobs closed New York Fashion Week at the Ziegfeld Theater. It was an homage to everyone’s inner punk princess— Marc’s favorite type of muse! Models from Kendall Jenner to Beth Ditto (the voluptuous singer from The Gossip) strutted down the theaters aisles in gorgeous vintage inspired apparel carrying bags adorned with images of popcorn, Mickey Mouse and soda cups. Paul Andrew ‘Flora’ Lucite Heel.
Ever wondered how you can top off an outrageously OTT look? Look below, to your feet! Former CFDA Accessories winner Paul Andrew presented his Spring 2016 collection today, and along with his signature pumps (favored by Amal Clooney) and architectural heels, he presented these lucite beauties embellished with leather flowers. Deja vu? Yep. Andrew designed the shoes for Tanya Taylor where they made an appearance in a slightly different color but they were just as eye-catching. Fancy footwork indeed!
Oscar De La Renta Tassel Bracelets.
While the clothes at Oscar de la Renta featured an ornate, Spanish look, it was the jewelry which struck a different note — pieces that could work well on ladies who don’t necessarily lunch. The chandelier earrings looked lovely with the rich palette of the clothes, but the standout piece for me was the bracelet on model Esme LAST NAME’s wrist: a gold charm number with ruby silk tassel that reminded me of something you would pick while on vacation in a far flung locale. But thanks to Peter Copping’s vision this season, the bohemian style bauble will be available to those of us who might not make it to an exotic destination next season. Photo: IMAXtree

You never exactly know what to expect at a Jeremy Scott show, but you can always count on three things: 1) The music will be as loud as the clothes. 2) Standing room will be packed with nouveau club kids quaking with excitement at seeing their idol live. And 3) Batty accessories will abound. Today, it was all about those big, bouncy, beehive wigs in every color, that bobbed hypnotically while the models walked to the beat. Too early to call it a revival of the Hairspray era — but we’re pulling out our B-52s records just in case.
Architectural Sunglasses by Opening Ceremony in collaboration with Gentle Monster.
Aside from the incredible set at Opening Ceremony last night, which was inspired by the iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the sunglasses were another design standout for me. Created in collaboration with the Korean-based brand Gentle Monster, the glasses kept to the architectural theme, with three-dimensional frames and a textured shape that looked like ruffles! And with so many clean looks coming down the runway so far, a fun pair of sunglasses is going be such a statement next spring.

Another highlight, aside from the garments themselves, were the minimalist face pieces created by Australian accessories brand Sarah & Sebastian to accompany each look. Slender silver pieces were placed directly in the middle of models’ faces, transforming them into soft bionic creatures.

A jeweled mask at the Givenchy show.
The Givenchy show brought downtown New York to a stand still last night. With the sun setting and the Freedom Tower looking over the set built by artist Marina Abramovic (a close friend of Riccardo Tisci), the show had a near religious experience— put it this way, I got more out of it than the last time I went to church! The silk lace dresses and super sexy silk robes were ethereal but it was the jeweled masks displayed during the couture part that made me want to stand up and give Tisci an Amen!
Dramatic, luxurious, multi-culti and impractical, the masks were fit for the most stylish Saudi princesses or Indian brides. Created by Pat McGrath, the Picasso of the makeup world, these face pieces are not only uncomfortable to have on your face but a nightmare to remove. So why bother when the clothes are already so stunning? The drama, of course, and without the face embellishments, it’s just another pretty dress. And as we ladies know, we all need a little drama to go with the beauty.

Kanye West might have made his fashion week debut at Brother Vellies, designed by 31-year-old Aurora James, but it was her hand-crafted shoes and bags that caused the most buzz. James infused her signature tribal esthetic into the tightly edited debut collection of totes and cross-body bags.
