Amy Schumer Celebrates Her Bikini Body on Social Media

Amy Schumer isn’t going to let one swimwear designer get her down. After Dana Duggan, owner and designer of South Shore Swimwear, attacked the comedian on social media for appearing on the cover of InStyle in a bathing suit last week, Schumer responded indirectly.

The outspoken and unabashed performer posted a slew of pics on Instagram Stories Saturday, each one featuring her in a different swimsuit. She’s wearing a bikini in most, proving she clearly has no qualms with the way her body looks in a two-piece. The last image is of her in a black lace bodysuit that’s mostly sheer, with the caption, “I feel great. No haters can f with my baseline.”

Schumer is an outspoken body-positive advocate and speaks on a major platform for a group of people who not only are secure with their average bodies, but also won’t let haters tear down their confidence. From a forest green strapless two-piece to a blue paisley bikini to a sexy red number, she’s clearly confident. In many of the pics she’s being her silly, lively self, paddleboarding and jumping.

Schumer can rock a swimsuit, whether it’s on her personal social media account or on the cover of a nationally distributed magazine. “Comedy queen @AmySchumer makes a splash,” captioned InStyle in an Instagram photo of the cover of its May beauty issue.

She looked sultry in the water wearing a white Lauren by Ralph Lauren one-piece with ribbing and cutouts down the center. Somehow, not everyone saw it the same way, most notably Duggan. “Come on now! You could not find anyone better for this cover? Not everyone should be in a swimsuit,” the Massachusetts-based designer commented on the post, with a vomit emoji. Of course, Schumer’s fans— and other people who appreciate the media’s move to more-realistic models — jumped to her defense. “@southshoreswimwear not everyone should be in a swimsuit?! Swimwear is not just for women who are a size 2! She is a real woman with a real body. Bravo to @instylemagazine for showcasing her. She looks beautiful,” one person wrote. Another replied, “@southshoreswimwear rude. You’re the problem.”

“I’m not fat-shaming anyone,” Duggan told Yahoo Style. “I’m not anti-inclusivity or anti-plus-size. All I said was not everyone should be in a swimsuit on the cover of a magazine. I don’t think it was an attractive photo.”

Before Schumer’s Instagram story, InStyle seemed to respond with another photo of her in the water, clearly unmoved by the haters, with this quote from Schumer: “What’s good about not being a model is that it’s not the thing I trade on. Once I start looking older, that won’t affect me. I have never gotten anything done because I’m, like, so gorgeous. I’m good-looking enough that I can work in the business. I get enough attention from men that I feel good. I see pictures of myself now, and I look younger than I think of myself. It hasn’t scared me yet.”

Clearly, Schumer doesn’t care what anyone thinks because no one can f with her baseline.
