Amy Schumer Gets Black & White Right
Amy Schumer’s a well-accomplished jokester, and now it seems the comedienne is earning her fashion credentials as well. The host for Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards showed off her sartorial chops in mostly black and white looks; perhaps anticipating the fact that her humor would fill the night with color. Here, we breakdown Schumer’s five outfit changes.
Schumer started out strong on the blue carpet in a black and white Balmain number with long sleeves and a V-neck that would’ve totally been approved by Kim Kardashian (who’s the brand’s number one fan). The 33-year-old kept everything else simple—her hair side-parted and pulled back with natural makeup (besides a heavy stroke of eyeliner), black pumps, and red nails.
Legs for days must’ve been one of Schumer’s mottos for the evening. She opened the show wearing a short black dress with two gold stripes running down the center and excess gold tinsel that tickled her knee caps. Schumer finished her look with black stilettos and the boldest accessory of the night—a bow and arrow. She danced, she joked, and then she let the arrow out into the crowd, “killing” Jimmy Kimmel. At least she shot him in style!
Schumer started out strong, but her power got even greater as the show progressed. She channeled Superwoman in a skin-tight black pleather bodysuit with pointed-toe knee-high boots as she soared over the stage. We’ll fist-pump to that!
Holding true to the black and white (and red) theme, the Comedy Central star—whose hair was still pulled back in a high pony tail—looked comfortable in a LBD. The dress’s hem ruffled and hit right above her knee. It broke the classic black dress mold with its sheer panel, which allowed for the slightest hint of the thigh.
White out! But really. Schumer closed the show in a white power suit with black stilettos, perfectly pulling off the menswear trend.
It’s official: Schumer’s made her foray into fashion.
