Amy Schumer Empowers Women in the Filthiest Way Possible
Amy Schumer’s acceptance speech for Trailblazer of the Year at Glamour UK’s Women of the Year, proved that she was more than deserving of the title. “I’m probably like 160 pounds right now and I can catch a d— whenever I want, like, that’s the truth. It’s not a problem,” she told the crowd, who appropriately erupted in laughter.
The 34-year-old comedienne has become the face, or, more appropriately, the voice of body, and self-acceptance as of late, with her truthful (and hilarious) sketches on beauty, fashion, and various other pertinent women’s issues on her show, Inside Amy Schumer, and standup routines.

Schumer followed Ellie Goulding onstage, who was presented with Cointreau’s Solo Artist Of The Year wearing a lace-up black dress from Barbara Bui, and while the Brit singer remarked, “Thank you for having me on your cover as I’m a real woman,” Schumer retorted, "I love the way Ellie was like, ‘Thank you for loving real people,’ and she’s like a f—ing supermodel. Like, the little uglies, you found us!“
While Schumer admitted that she makes fun of women’s magazines a lot — they provide great fodder — she took the time to thank Glamour UK. “They’re the first magazine that was like, 'Smile,’ and I was like, 'Where’s the d—? And they were like, ‘No, just be you,’” she joked. Schumer continued her praise, noting that the publication was one of the first to give her a voice, letting her tell a story about a time when she went home with a guy in college and instead of sleeping with him, found some self-esteem. “No, I’m not going to apologize for who I am and I’m actually going to love the skin I’m in and not be like striving for some other version of myself.”
