London Designer Puts Harry Styles on Your Butt - For A Price

Ashish Gupta’s London Fashion Week show has made headlines for its Kimye sweatshirt, One Direction pants, and Miley Cyrus tee, but look past the abstract celebrity faces and you’ll see that the designer’s unique denim pants are the real talk of the town (scroll down for pics). One pair looks like the model might have just rolled out of bed before hitting the runway and didn’t notice that her jeans were on backward (in fact, they’re purposely constructed to look like that — no doubt influenced by the 1990s’ Kriss Kross); some pairs are covered in sparkly brocade print; others either are entirely embellished with sequins or feature exaggerated fringed holes (or both); one pair has an extremely high waist; and another has patchwork with banana, cigarette, and middle finger badges. “I’ve been wanting to try lots of new techniques out for a while now, including making gingham and snakeskin out of sequins,” the adventurous designer tells Yahoo Style.

But before you commit to apparel bedazzled with the “world’s most talked about couple,” be wary of the hefty price tag Gupta’s items carry. Pants featuring decorations usually sell for over $1,000, but there’s no telling how much a pair featuring Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson will go for. Perhaps it would even be a wise investment to scoop up a pair before it sells out and put it on eBay. ”I’m quite obsessed with trashy celebrity magazines and fan art, and I thought it was funny,” he says. “I hope [Kim] requests one! I love her!” I wonder if other famous faces — for example, “it” couples such as Kate Middleton and Prince William and Brad and Angelina — will be able to request their own mugs be emblazoned on apparel.

And if you haven’t already been blinded by the celebrities, sequins, and unique pants (those fluffy platform shoes are distracting, too), then you’ll also notice that every model on Gupta's runway is black. "I don’t think there’s enough done to promote diversity in the fashion industry. We live in a multicultural society. London is one of the most amazing multicultural cities, and I just feel that needs to be represented in fashion,” Gupta says. Talk about making a statement!
