Bella Hadid Has Another Forced Run-in With Ex-Boyfriend the Weeknd at H&M Show

H&M has great clothes, gratifying prices, and a nifty line of makeup. It’s also got a tabloid strategy … at least if its Paris fashion show on March 1 is any indication.

The megabrand signed the Weeknd for a spring collaboration, asked the pop star to perform during their show, and then sent his ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid down the catwalk midsong.

In doing so, the Swedish brand seemed to channel the Internet-breaking power of the moment from November’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show — also in Paris — in which the Weeknd seemed to serenade Bella onstage as she sashayed by in lingerie.

If you don’t remember, here’s a reminder:

And while singer Abel Tesfaye didn’t bring his current flame, Selena Gomez, to the show, model Selena Forrest was part of the lineup, leading to rumors. Even trickier: The models (including Bella’s sister Gigi Hadid, Lineisy Montero, Amber Valetta, and Elsa Hosk) were instructed to stay onstage after the show and dance with the band.

“She’s gonna bolt,” one editor whispered to her colleagues, and the whole row held their breath as Bella and Gigi took the stage.

But Bella isn’t just a rising supermodel. She’s also, apparently, a superwoman when it comes to handling work, life, and blinding flashbulbs.

The 20-year-old grinned, glowed, and held hands with Gigi, who, as they walked out, gave her the perfect knowing glance that’s she’s got her back.

And the encounter did not go unnoticed on social media, as some at the show took to Twitter to comment:

While Bella remained stoic, she may have been hiding some emotion: “It’ll be hard for a while,” she told Teen Vogue earlier this month. “As an outsider, you might think I handled it so well, but it’s always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily. … Love hurts, but you have to pull through.”

But ultimately, Bella killed it, and here’s proof: The dress she wore is already sold out online.

Other highlights from the show: Nicki Minaj sneaking up behind the paparazzi to slide into her seat a mere 20 minutes late (in fashion land, that’s actually kind of early), and American Honey ingénue Sasha Lane bringing the runway to an actual halt when British model and social justice activist Adwoa Aboah walked by. (The two exchanged compliments midwalk.) She also cheered on Winnie Harlow and Luka Sabbat and nearly made Gigi start laughing too.

“I don’t even really know them,” Lane said after the show. “But I was just so excited to see them. You know?”

Oh, trust us: We know.
