Social Media Thinks the Obamas Are Never Coming Back Because of Their Outfits
On Tuesday night, Huffington Post editor Philip Lewis shared a video on Twitter of Barack and Michelle Obama on vacation on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. And the Internet wasted no time in reading between the lines of their casual beachside style.
Obama's on vacation with the hat backwards. He's never coming back. pic.twitter.com/RUakcwwgtT

The former president was sporting a backward hat, while Michelle was rocking denim cutoffs and toting a woven beach bag. “Obama’s on vacation with the hat backwards. He’s never coming back,” the tweet that started the speculation reads. And the Twitterverse quickly agreed.
Many seconded Lewis’s take on that bold backward baseball cap.
@Phil_Lewis_ @MaraWilson Once you go hat back you never go back back

Others turned their attention to the former first lady, whose signature style over the years has always been impeccably chic but rarely, if ever, quite so relaxed.

Some simply called out the couple’s relaxed expressions.
@Phil_Lewis_ …yeah, that's the look of a guy who can finally say …"not my problem."

Others, however, went a comedic route.

These social media cries of abandonment come, however, a mere couple of days after the former POTUS broke his postpresidential silence, saying via a spokesperson that he “fundamentally disagrees” with President Trump’s immigration order and praising protesters who came together across the country in response to its enactment.
Many have, in fact, been begging Obama to come back since pretty much the moment he vacated the White House.

But if the Obamas themselves are to be believed, everyone can calm down: They will indeed be back — just in a different capacity. On Jan. 20, the couple announced their first post-White House project via video: the Obama Foundation, a “future presidential center” that “will be based on the South Side of Chicago, but it will have projects all over the city, the country, and the world. More than a library or a museum, it will be a living, working center for citizenship.”
For now, let’s let them take their first real vacation in eight years in peace. Even if it involves edgy looks like backward baseball caps and cutoff jean shorts.
