Beyoncé Rocks Pantsuit in Support of Hillary
Over her past few performances, Beyoncé has gotten political. Though she had stopped short of explicitly endorsing a candidate, the CFDA Fashion Icon recently took to the Tidal music stage wearing what some called a Hillary Clinton-inspired pantsuit and urged the audience to get out and vote. For Queen Bey’s latest appearance, she made her support crystal clear.
On Friday night, Beyoncé joined hubby Jay Z onstage for his #ImWithHer concert. The Clinton rally in Cleveland was intended to shore up support in the battleground state for America’s first major-party female nominee. Bey performed quite a few numbers for the event, among them “Diva” and “Freedom,” as well as mash-ups with Jay Z’s songs, including a collage of “Bow Down” with “Tom Ford.” She even paired “Independent Women” by Destiny’s Child with “Run the World.” But with daughter Blue Ivy backstage, it was the performance of her hit “Formation” that got social media talking.
For her entire set, the Texas native donned a pantsuit, which most took as an ode to Clinton, who has been wearing pantsuits all over the campaign trail. And if you by chance thought it was a coincidence, Mrs. Carter’s suit was complemented by the true-blue suits of her backup dancers. The dancers even wore custom #ImWithHer tees under their suits. Beyoncé’s outfit was a definite departure for the pop star, who is known for her dance-friendly leotards.

“Less than 100 years ago, women did not have the right to vote,” Bey said during a speech at the event. “Look at how far we have come, from not having a voice to being on the brink of making history again by electing the first woman president.”
“But we have to vote,” she urged the crowd. The star went on to talk about how the historic election of President Obama made it a reality for her nephew Julez (Solange’s son) to be able to realize his dreams and how the same can now be true for Blue Ivy because of Hillary Clinton.
“We have to think about the future of our daughters and sons and vote for someone who cares for them as much as we do. And that is why I’m with her,” she said.
Besides the polka-dot suit, Bey’s outfit included some heavy jewelry around her neck — a look often seen in the “Formation” era. It was likely styled by Zerina Akers, who styled Beyoncé’s Halloween looks, her Tidal suit, and even part of her Country Music Awards performance.
