Blake Lively Gets Ready for Valentine’s Day in a Heart-Covered Dress

Dressing for Valentine’s Day isn’t easy. Red isn’t always the most flattering color, and how on earth do you make hearts or kissy lips look good? Leave it to Blake Lively to figure out how to embrace the corniness that is this day of love without sacrificing style.

The actress attended the L’Oréal Paris Paints + Colorista launch event in New York yesterday in an outfit that showed she was ready for Valentine’s Day, or Galentine’s Day, as she called it on Instagram. Lively, who helped plan and prep the event, sported a black SemSem minidress covered in red and white hearts. The chiffon flouncy frock had a turtleneck, flared sleeves, and a cinched waist, which showed off her immaculate post-baby frame. She toned down the girlishness of the dress with black studded Louboutin pumps.

And while it’s hard to make a dress covered in hearts work any day besides Valentine’s Day, the mother of two wasn’t out of place a day early, because the event was a #LOrealLoves girls night out, to which she brought her sister, Robyn.

Even the blonde beauty’s hair kept up the theme. Her half-up style was wrapped around the back of her head, forming the shape of a heart, because Lively’s hair is art.

The event was about supporting women, and while Lively has a husband she loves, actor Ryan Reynolds, she made it clear on Instagram that this year she was spending V-day celebrating women. At the event, she wrote a list of all the things she’s worth on a wall in silver pen: “I’m worth … my rights, equality, love, respect, kindness, opportunity, inclusion, more sleep, chocolate.”
